Two Choirs in Celebration
On the occasion of the anniversary of the arrival of the Augustines and the Ursulines in Quebec in 1639, Le Monastère des Augustines and the Pôle culturel du Monastère des Ursulines are joining forces to offer a day of free cultural activities. On August 1, 2026, discover two historic sites in Old Quebec and learn more about the bond that unites these two founding communities of the city of Quebec. This event today highlights the common heritage of these two communities, the friendship developed over time, as well as their essential contribution to the development of Quebec society. On the program: 10 a.m.: Musical performance in the choir of the Pôle culturel du Monastère des Ursulines, offered by Ensemble Vents et Marées with Rosalie Brulotte, soprano, Hélène Meunier on clarinet, and Simon Boily-Proulx on piano. 10:30 a.m.: Walk to Le Monastère des Augustines 11:15 a.m.: Performance by Jessica Latouche, soprano, and Marc D’Anjou, organist, in the choir of the Monastère des Augustines 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Self-guided tours of the exhibitions Grandir chez les Ursulines at the Pôle culturel du Monastère des Ursulines and Résonances. Entre elles et nous at the Monastère des Augustines. Animators will be on site to answer your questions. No guided tours will be offered for this occasion. All activities are free and the event will take place rain or shine. Important notes Places are limited for both concerts, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority will be given to those who wish to attend both concerts. The order counter at Le Monastère des Augustines will be open from 11 a.m. to allow you to enjoy a healthy meal on its terrace or in the Vivoir.
