Flower Face
Baie de Beauport
Montreal | alternative/indie. Flower Face is the project of Montreal singer, songwriter, and visual artist Ruby McKinnon, whose music navigates between gothic folk, dream pop, and cinematic indie rock. She began releasing self-produced albums as a teenager, first with Fever Dreams (2017), then Baby Teeth (2018), two works that revealed her as a talented storyteller with a keen sense of atmosphere and great emotional depth. With The Shark in Your Water (2022), Flower Face reached a wider audience and received praise from media like Stereogum and Paste, who lauded the finesse of her lyrics and the evocative power of her arrangements. Her most recent album, Girl Prometheus (2024), produced by Marcus Paquin (The National, Arcade Fire), features McKinnon in a work that is both ambitious and vulnerable, where whispered acoustic confidences blend with vast orchestral textures. Throughout her discography, Flower Face has evolved from a chamber project to one of Canada's most captivating new voices—an artist who is not afraid to transform heartbreak, resilience, and survival into songs that are both timeless and deeply personal.
