Bon Enfant
Baie de Beauport
Quebec | folk-rock Bon Enfant is a quintet as diverse as its members and their horizons, for whom rock is as much a passion as a way of life. Formed at the end of the last decade by Daphné Brissette and Guillaume Chiasson to carve out new territory outside their previous practices, the group was quickly joined by Étienne Côté (LUMIÈRE), Melissa Fortin, and Alex Burger – and soon released a self-titled debut album that was celebrated as the best French-language album of 2019 by Le Devoir and awarded the Lucien for Rock Album of the Year the following year at the GAMIQ. Immediately establishing a pop sound with upbeat grooves drawing from folk-rock and psych, the band returned two years later with Diorama, featuring an even broader palette, incorporating elements of soundtrack music, disco, hard rock, and glam rock – a successful blend that earned them the Félix for Rock Album of the Year at the ADISQ 2022 gala. Soon, tours followed in Quebec, Europe, and the United Kingdom, an early global buzz discrediting the territorial issue of language in favor of having good tunes. Crafting permeable and open rock while always avoiding pastiche, the group persists in adapting popular resonances while making new musical niches their own for the future: Demande spéciale was released in the fall of 2024 under Duprince.
