Les Sœurs Boulay and Elliot Maginot
Théâtre Petit Champlain
Friends for almost 15 years now, formerly roommates at 4488 de l’amour, Les Sœurs Boulay and Elliot Maginot started their careers side by side. Back then, as the sisters' career was beginning, Maginot was putting up show posters to make ends meet. Then, he started opening for them, until he had to stop to join his own tours, like a big shot! The years have shaped them quite a bit since then, but have never separated them, weaving bonds between them that today resemble a family connection; for better or for worse. Complex creatures, full of humor, self-deprecation, and contradictions, this monstrous three-headed trio wanted, at this stage of their careers, to return to the genesis; to make music out of love for the act and the desire to be together. They will therefore reunite on stage to reminisce about: that apartment, that kitchen table, that small back balcony, that basement carpeted with old crushed cigarettes and those bottles drunk too quickly. To revisit their hesitant beginnings, sometimes awkward, but never dull. To remember, also (and especially), those songs that shaped them and brought them together – both in their own repertoire and in the tradition of songwriters, troubadours, or pop stars. They will be heard in a stripped-down version, with three voices, and a few small acoustic instruments.
