Trained in music theory and composition at New York University, Yasmin Williams first gained recognition with the albums Unwind (2018) and Urban Driftwood (2021), which stood out for their original instrumental approaches, notably the simultaneous playing of the kalimba and guitar. Also playing the kora, harp-guitar, double-neck guitar, banjo, and percussion, Yasmin Williams defies labels and goes far beyond the boundaries of folk.
