Star Festival: The Perseids at the Discovery Observatory
Observatoire de la Découverte
In collaboration with the Ville de Québec, the Io Astronomy Club of Val-Bélair invites young and old to the Star Festival at the Discovery Observatory (1560, rue de la Découverte). From August 14 to 16, 2026, starting at 8 p.m., come admire the Perseid meteor shower with amateur astronomers. No reservation required. On the program: conferences, entertainment, introduction to astronomy, telescope observation, and educational material from the Quebec Amateur Astronomers Federation. Outdoors: shooting stars, constellation spotting, and observation of celestial objects with instruments. Organizer's advice: warm clothing, chairs, and snacks welcome; refreshments offered on a voluntary contribution basis in the observatory. The Voilà Québec tip: the peak of the Perseids occurs on the night of August 12-13, but the Star Festival weekend remains the ideal opportunity to enjoy it with telescopes and enthusiasts to guide your gaze. A family night out that's off the beaten path; other ideas for the moment are in our weekend agenda.
