Mois Multi: The (Un-)Inventory or Device for Erasing Knowledge
Complexe Méduse
The (Un-)Inventory is a dynamic installation that branches out over a month. It is a reading machine that phagocytizes the artist's library. Each day, the machine agrees to swallow books whose content is immediately erased on a witness wall. The visitor moves through the heart of this machination, whose daily metamorphoses they can trace. The public is therefore invited to witness day by day the ravages of the deconstruction of knowledge to feed the dazibao wall. The space of the (Un-)Inventory is the residence of the reader-author Alain-Martin Richard, whose transactions with the machine will also be engraved on the dazibao and broadcast in a progressive video loop. On February 8, Richard will offer a performance in the form of a heroic reading of the longest sentence in the world. This sentence will subsequently be the ultimate residue of the erased library. The (Un-)Inventory will then be completed, leaving the library bare and silent.
