Great Planting at the Food Forest

From Thursday, September 24 to Saturday, September 26, 2026, the Lac-Saint-Charles food forest, located in the middle of rue des Échassiers in the La Haute-Saint-Charles borough, will host its great planting event: fruit trees, shrubs, and plants to be put in the ground from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, unless the weather compromises safety. Planted starting in 2020 by the organization RAFAL with Agiro, it is the first food forest developed on municipal land in Quebec City: 468 plants were already growing there on 2,500 m² before this new phase (sources: animee.ville.quebec.qc.ca and RAFAL, consulted on September 12, 2026). The activity is free and open to everyone, including beginner gardeners; the City indicates mandatory registration "on the event website," but no registration link is published on its page at the time of writing: call 311 for instructions. Coffee and snacks are offered on site, and lunch is served on Saturday the 26th. Wear boots or closed-toe shoes.
