Presentation: Two Steps and a Light Year Away by Benoît Borieas
Complexe Méduse
Two Steps and a Light Year Away is a hybrid sound writing between documentary essay, acousmatic/electronic and landscape composition. It offers a sonic journey where two worlds, in a peri-urban zone and with antagonistic temporalities, coexist: one technologized-industrial and the other with still wilder paths. Although they are only a stone's throw apart, it takes a light year of sensory adaptation to move from one to the other. In Two Steps and a Light Year Away, these two worlds gradually confront each other before hybridizing into another composite state. Throughout the composition, we encounter certain inhabitants, who move daily from one world to the other. Their actions and some of their stories tell of their relationship with time and a sensitive connection to a landscape that has not yet completely disappeared.
