Crowds. Human Laboratory
Musée de la civilisation
Everyone has had a good or bad experience with crowds. In the midst of others, we sometimes feel enthusiastic, and at other times jostled in all directions. Many collective phenomena emerge from these interactions, which are dissected in the exhibition "Crowds." How are dense crowds at large gatherings studied? What hidden rules do we obey, without knowing it, when we are surrounded by other people? How do the great movements of opinion that ignite social networks form? Subject of much criticism, the crowd has often been perceived in the collective imagination as a strange, even disturbing creature. Drawing on the latest principles of interdisciplinary research, "Crowds" aims to deconstruct the negative image that has been associated with it for too long.
