Introduction à l’accessibilité créative
Carrefour International de Théâtre
The conference and training are mainly for people in the cultural sector Everyone should be able to access theatre and culture. Yet, performing arts truly adapted for people with functional diversity remain too rare. To change this reality, accessibility must be considered from the very beginning, and at the heart of the creative process itself, not as an afterthought. However, it can be intimidating to know where to start to make one's works truly accessible without distorting them. Through this conference-discussion, we will cover the basics of creative accessibility as well as essential notions for designing truly inclusive approaches, attentive to the realities and needs of diverse communities. About Théâtre Déchaînés • • Théâtre Déchaînés is an organization for research, creation, and dissemination of accessible and inclusive theatrical experiences. We specialize in participatory cultural works and activities designed from their inception to be adapted for diverse audiences with functional diversity and marginalized groups, to make them as accessible as possible to communities too often forgotten, through an approach we call 'creative accessibility'. Everyone should have access to theatre. Whether for reasons of disability, mental or physical health, age, geography, family obligations, incarceration, illiteracy, or financial situation, a large number of people do not have access to theatre or cultural activities adapted to their circumstances. It is time to rethink access to cultural citizenship so that it transcends privilege and pre-established frameworks.
