Chicha Libre
Scène Hydro-Québec – Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale
Chicha Libre is a Brooklyn-based collective that has helped popularize and reinvent chicha, a psychedelic form of Peruvian cumbia blending Latin rhythms, surf guitars, organ, and rock. Initially conceived as a tribute to the pioneers of chicha, the project has evolved into an original creation, integrating the influences of its French, American, Mexican, and Venezuelan members into a tropical and pop style. Renowned for its free and inventive music, the group has toured internationally and played with legendary Peruvian artists, extending the influence of chicha beyond Peru.
