Djely Tapa
Scène Hydro-Québec – Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale
With Dankoroba, Djely Tapa continues her artistic vision at the crossroads of Malian and Western cultures, past, present, and future. Originally from the Kayes region in western Mali, she perpetuates the wisdom and vocal art of griots, emblematic figures of Malian society since the 13th-century Mandinka Empire. Her repertoire blends Mandinka traditions, desert blues, and electronic sounds. She debuted as a solo artist in 2019 with Barokan (JUNO 2020 - World Music Album) and confirmed her influence with Dankoroba, which won the 2025 JUNO in the Global Music Album category, cementing her place among the major voices of contemporary world music.
