Fulu Miziki Kolektiv
Scène Hydro-Québec – Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale
FULU MIZIKI KOLEKTIV, meaning "the sound of garbage" in Lingala, is a musical collective born in Ngwaka, a neighborhood of Kinshasa in the DRC. Defining themselves as an Eco-Friendly-Afro-Futuristic-Punk assembly, they create a unique music they call Twerkanda – an explosive blend of afro disco-house and post-soukous. Their particularity? They design and play on instruments made from recycled objects, constantly pushing sound boundaries. Through their artistic approach and avant-garde aesthetic, they carry a pan-Africanist message of artistic liberation and ecological awareness, while reinventing possibilities from salvaged materials.
