Poetry Slams
La Ninkasi
A fun part in poetry! Poetry slam relies on competition only for the audience's enjoyment, which is sovereign: the match takes place on stage, but the outcome is determined in the hall. The ultimate goal of slam? That poetry meets and impacts its audience. A slam evening brings together six to twelve poets and unfolds over two rounds. Five people chosen randomly from the audience make up the jury who decides the scores throughout the match. Based on the cumulative scores of the two rounds, the poet who achieved the highest score wins the match. After the regular season of poetry slams, come the playoffs which will determine the four poets who will represent the Quebec City region at the Grand Slam (provincial final) of the Ligue québécoise de slam (LiQS). Poetry slams are presented by Slam Cap and the Tremplin d’actualisation de poésie.
