Les Grands Explorateurs
Grand Théâtre de Québec
Encounter with Julie Corbeil Long associated with social and political instability, Colombia still bears the scars of a troubled past. Yet, behind this tarnished reputation, another country is emerging. A country that is rebuilding and wishes to tell its story differently. Inspired by rich exchanges with members of the Colombian community in Quebec, director Julie Corbeil turns her camera towards the country of their birth. What is happening in Colombia today? How is a nation marked by decades of violence redefining its identity and its relationship with the world? From Bogotá to the coffee region, through the Andes and the creative neighborhoods of Medellín, meet artists, entrepreneurs, coffee and cocoa growers, engaged youth, and citizens who have chosen to participate in change. Some have lived through the darkest years. Others embody a generation that is transforming the collective narrative. Through these multiple voices, a vibrant, colorful, festive Colombia, proud of its cultural heritage, emerges. This magnificent country relies on its exceptional natural heritage, the richness of its resources, and the strength of its creativity to redefine itself. This film is an invitation to move beyond clichés and to restore the nobility of a nation in motion. A luminous journey that celebrates the identity and energy of a resilient people.
