Ensemble doux
Grand Théâtre de Québec
Marie-Pierre Arthur yearns for softness, proximity, and to give full space to the connections created by singing close to one another. She wishes to speak softly and highlight the essence of her songs (the rarest as well as the best known). The space is shared with the audience, so close that one can almost hear them breathe. Simple and complex at the same time in the composition of the choirs, this show creates different levels of intensity and captivates with each song. To accompany her, she has chosen incomparable performers, as colorful as they are refined, capable of great contrasts: Naomie Delorimier (N Nao), Émilie Pompa (Em Pompa), and Raphaël Pépin-Tanguay (Velours Velours), her constant accomplice François Lafontaine (piano) and her longtime comrade Joe Grass (guitar). Gathered on stage, they revisit, rearrange, and survey her work in the tightly woven intimacy of the Soft Ensemble's cocoon. It's beautiful, essential, and demonstrates the full power of softness. A Grand Théâtre de Québec presentation.
