Confessions d'un enfant du siècle dernier
Salle Albert-Rousseau
Theatre — Five facets of a young man in search of himself Between school and home, a teenager discovers his desires and aspirations while facing the gaze and judgment of others. In going through this rite of passage, it is not surprising to feel torn... Michel Tremblay never ceases to amaze us. In Confessions of a Child of the Last Century, we will easily recognize his literary alter ego, "the child of the big woman," so sensitive, so curious, so unique... or almost. Let's rediscover this boy through a plurality of bodies, voices, and faces belonging to today's youth, who are also grappling with the great exultations and small humiliations associated with the transition to adulthood. A plural and fragmented monologue reminiscent of Albertine in five movements, this new text poses a beautiful question: should one remain on the margins, in dreams, or enter the world fully, with all that one is and all that one carries? To infuse the necessary energy with aplomb for the deployment of this spoken quintet, René Richard Cyr answers the call, having always been attentive to the profound musicality of Michel Tremblay's dramatic prose. Ariane Moffatt will create the soundtrack for this show, carried by the performers Étienne Courville, Élie Dorval, Émile Ouellette, Nour Shoukry, and Madani Tall. Children of this century uniting to give voice to the adolescent of yesteryear who, discovering his uniqueness, began to dream of becoming a writer one day...
