Quebec International Body Music Festival
Maison pour la danse de Québec
The International Body Music Festival (IBMF) arrives in Quebec for a first long edition in Canada. For a week, some forty artists from Quebec, First Nations, and internationally will offer more than 90 activities where the body becomes an instrument: shows, participatory workshops, conferences, and rhythmic vigils. Recognized as the world's largest gathering dedicated to body music, the IBMF has celebrated since 2008 an inclusive artistic practice that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers through movement, rhythm, and collective energy. The programming will take over several downtown venues and will bring together local traditions and rhythmic expressions from around the world. Led by Les Malchaussées, in partnership with PLAYGROUND for the arts and Crosspulse, the event brings together renowned and emerging artists, from here and elsewhere, and affirms Quebec as an open, vibrant, and internationally-oriented artistic capital.
