Place Limouloise
Starting June 13, Place Limouloise will come alive with music, dance, and cinema thanks to En place mon loup!, a brand-new free summer program created by Limoilou en Vrac. Residents and artists will come together for a series of friendly and unifying activities aimed at making this iconic neighborhood space even more vibrant. The program will officially launch on June 13 at 1 p.m. with the opening of the public piano animated by Valérie Beaudry and her team. She will unveil the list of pianists who will perform at Place Limouloise this summer. The return of the public piano Already appreciated by the neighborhood's residents, the public piano concept will return this year in collaboration with Piano Passion Québec. Solo, duo, or trio pianists will offer free musical performances at Place Limouloise every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Swing Thursdays Starting July 9, Swing Ambasade will offer swing dance evenings every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On the program: introductory lessons, dance performances, and music with a DJ to get everyone dancing. Outdoor cinema Two outdoor short film screening evenings will take place on June 27 and July 4 in collaboration with SPIRA and KINOMADA, two Quebec organizations dedicated to independent cinema and collaborative audiovisual creation. The program will be announced in the coming weeks on our social media. Follow us so you don't miss anything! Musical improvisation match On August 12, the Ligue d’improvisation musicale de Québec (LIMQ) will present a musical improvisation match inspired by the famous Gravélien format of theatrical improvisation. Two teams of two musicians will create spontaneous works based on themes imposed by a referee and suggested by the audience. After each improvisation, the audience will vote for the winning team. This special 2 vs 2 match will highlight the public piano at Place Limouloise. En place mon loup! is a new initiative made possible thanks to the support of the Ville de Québec within the framework of the animation program in public outdoor municipal spaces, as well as the support of Desjardins Caisse de Limoilou.
