L’oiseau qui plane et qui ne cesse d’agrandir son cercle de Mélanie Bédard à La Bande Vidéo
Complexe Méduse
From 2017 to 2024, Mélanie Bédard invited more than a dozen artists to various creation labs as part of multiple residencies, mentorships, and excursions. On these occasions, each was invited to sit around a screen-space and enter into a dialogue of thoughts-materials, a meeting where each person's creative forces materialized to be shared and give birth to stop-motion animation films, time-lapses, and memory-landscapes. Placed back in context in a video installation simulating a dining room, these films are both an open and intuitive reflection, an ode to friendship, and a space to imagine what's next. This project received financial support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. It was made possible thanks to the support in mentorship, co-production, and residency at Les Productions Recto-Verso, Avatar, and La Bande Vidéo between 2017 and 2024, as well as improvised incursions and residencies with local producers and market gardeners in Chaudière-Appalaches.
