L'effet Lisa
L’effet Lisa is a musical theatre piece freely inspired by the work of Richard Desjardins, conceived and directed by Jade Bruneau. This poetic fable blends drama and humor to explore themes of nature, territory, love, and collective memory. As a forest fire ravages the outskirts of Company Town, a cast of unique characters crosses paths at the Boomtown Café: • The Man of the Woods (Jean-François Casabonne), an enigmatic hermit living alone in the woods, a mythical figure whose existence is debated. • The Rooted One (Geneviève Alarie), timeless barmaid of the Boomtown Café, the living memory of the town. • The Good Guy (Simon Fréchette-Daoust), who left young for the big city, returns after years of absence. • The Bum (Steven Lee Potvin), his brother who stayed in Company Town, a foundry worker. • The Cleaning Lady (Sarah Villeneuve-Desjardins), seeking transformation, intoxicated by pollution and dirt. • Jenny (Jade Bruneau), an articulate and rebellious woman, a future mother torn between two impossible loves, thirsty for justice. • And finally, Lisa (Noémie Godin-Vigneau), the Moon, a mysterious narrator whose effect remains to be discovered. • In music, Marc-André Perron on piano, who also handles musical direction and arrangements, as well as Stéphane Tétreault on cello with the 1707 Stradivarius « Comtesse de Stainlein, ex-Paganini », a famous instrument crafted over three centuries ago from wood by master Antonio Stradivari. L’effet Lisa is an ode to the urgency to act, a vibrant tribute to a committed poet, and an invitation to listen to the burning signals of our planet.
