The Deliverance: Dramatic Comedy
Early January 1998, in Montérégie. Jeanne returns to the family dairy farm after a long absence. Heavily pregnant, no one knew she was expecting a child. The ice storm hits, and the electricity goes out; the Pétrin family home and farm are at the heart of the ice triangle. The crisis within the household, however, has nothing to do with the weather! The frost outside gradually forces them to rub against each other, to get scratched to warm up better. La Délivrance is a very powerful, moving play that speaks of motherhood and legacy, but also of a taboo subject: the non-desire for children. It is also an ode to the extraordinary power of women.
