Ciné-discussion: Barbie Boomer
Discover the fascinating universe of a passionate Barbie doll collector! Barbie Boomer follows Sylvie Longpré (67 years old) who, to ensure the longevity of part of her Barbie collection, decides to donate her childhood dolls to the Museum. The institution agrees to evaluate the proposal. Will Sylvie experience a separation grief, especially as her best friend Linda, also a Barbie collector, sees her health decline in the face of illness? In the presence of the director and the collector, as well as Lydia Bouchard, curator at the Musée de la civilisation. Sylvie Longpré, known to the Quebec public since 1995 through various media and shows, is a passionate collector of Barbie and her universe. She creates her own custom clothing for herself and her dolls, in an intimate approach that is more about personal passion than cosplay. Caring for her dolls like children, she is now faced with a difficult separation grief. Marc Joly-Corcoran, director, producer, and editor, has been teaching editing and screenwriting at the Université de Montréal since 2010.
