Not Lost - Scenic Documentaries
Grand Théâtre de Québec
Created by Anaïs Barbeau‑Lavalette and Émile Proulx‑Cloutier, Pas perdus | documentaires scéniques is a unique and moving show that presents eight portraits of remarkable individuals; eight protagonists, none of whom are actors, chosen for their singular lives and the surprising way they tell their stories. Between these people with very different paths, a multitude of links are woven. Their voices, captured live, magnified by immersive sound treatment and doubled by their presence on stage, preserve all the strength and authenticity of spontaneous speech that is not replayed. With Pas perdus | documentaires scéniques, the creators explore our relationship to memory, transmission, language, what we carry within us, and the place we make for joy in our lives. Each scenic documentary portrays a human voice in all its individuality and pushes us to rethink the way we look at individuals, environments, and stories. A unique encounter with the other! The origin of the title The "salle des pas perdus" (hall of lost steps) is the name traditionally given to the large hall of a building where solitudes intersect while waiting for a departure, a decision, a sentence. At the crossroads of destinies, this interweaving of living mini-documentaries will question our intimate and collective relationship to memory, language, and grief. What have we lost along the way? What could we save? Which road to take from here?
