Freely inspired by Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse, the intimate play Lumières, lumières, lumières is presented here as a public reading in the exceptional setting of Domaine Cataraqui (Quebec), in front of a bay window overlooking the river. The text explores the passage of time and the persistence of desire through the memory of a constantly postponed journey. In her sensitive rewriting, author Evelyne de la Chenelière immerses the audience in the stream of consciousness of two key figures from the original novel: Mrs. Ramsay, a devoted mother, and Lily Briscoe, a resolutely independent artist. Through these women, the performance resonates with still-current tensions between creation, intimate emancipation, and social norms. Performed by two actresses from the Comédie-Française troupe, this project, created at the Studio-Théâtre du Louvre in May 2026, highlights a rare artistic encounter between the Parisian institution and Quebec, through the company Les songes turbulents. Two theatrical traditions meet here around a shared desire: to circulate works, voices, and imaginations between territories. Faithful collaborators, director Florent Siaud and Evelyne de la Chenelière are embarking on their eighth collaboration. A co-presentation of the CNA French Theatre and the Denise-Pelletier Theatre, made possible by the support of the Commission de la Capitale Nationale?
