This ultimate edition features beautiful new artwork and includes the excellent Seasons of Inis and Nemed expansions right out of the box. The Game: Will you be the next High King? In Inis, your goal is to be crowned King of the Island by the Assembly. To prove your wisdom and merit, you must achieve one of these three victory conditions: • The Chief: Be the leader in territories containing at least 6 opposing clans. • The Land: Have your clans present on at least 6 different territories. • The Religion: Have your clans on territories totaling at least 6 sanctuaries. Why we love this game? Forget simple war games where you just charge in! Although Inis features superb miniatures of warriors, shepherds, and merchants, it's a beginner's mistake to play only to destroy. Eliminating other clans reduces your own chances of victory! Peace and coexistence are often the most strategic outcomes. Victory relies on a subtle blend of mechanics: • Tactical card drafting: Wisely choose your actions each season. • Bluffing and timing: Learn when to act and when to pass your turn (a formidable mechanic!). • Epic Narratives: Invoke the deeds of ancient Irish gods and heroes (like Cúchulainn or Lugh) to perform extraordinary actions.
